A Message from Matthew Eady, Director of Culture & Leisure
Eight years ago, Richmond and Wandsworth Councils came together to create something quite unique – a single workforce serving two boroughs and delivering services for over half a million residents; a whole slice of London.
Working across inner and outer London, with two political administrations and two sovereign identities, but an integrated workforce, we are Richmond and Wandsworth Better Service Partnership; there’s no one else like us! We are a forward-thinking organisation and great employer that believes in developing our people, empowering our leaders, and creating a culture of collaboration and creativity – all to help our communities to thrive.
You’ll be joining at a time when our ambitions for our boroughs are really coming to life and you’ll drive forward both administrations’ ambitions to achieve best in class local government services.
Our communities are rich with diversity, creativity, and energy, and we are determined to ensure that our cultural, leisure, and green spaces reflect and celebrate that spirit and deliver them the opportunities that they deserve. As we continue to transform and expand our services, we’re looking for bold, innovative leaders to help shape the future and make a lasting impact on the lives of our residents.
At Richmond and Wandsworth, we are ambitious about delivering exemplary services and experiences in collaboration with stakeholders and partners across both boroughs. We are committed to continuous improvement, ensuring that our cultural and leisure offerings are inclusive, equitable, and accessible to all. By fostering welcoming spaces, embracing diverse perspectives, and implementing fair pricing, we bring people together, promote wellbeing, and instil pride in our communities. Whether it’s developing vibrant arts programmes, enhancing our stunning parks, supporting residents to move more in ways that suit them, or curating unforgettable public events, every role within the Culture and Leisure team plays a crucial part in making our boroughs places where everyone can thrive.
We are investing in our teams and infrastructure and we need new leaders to shape resident focused policy, drive transformation and deliver a large-scale capital programme that will push boundaries and set new standards. Our ambitious portfolio spans everything from the London Borough of Culture, Richmond Arts & Ideas Festival to the Joint Thames Strategy and Healthy Walks and cutting-edge leisure services. This is your chance to help shape the cultural heartbeat of two of London’s most vibrant boroughs.
I am incredibly proud of the work we do and the difference we make to the lives of residents, and I am excited about the future we are building. If you share our passion for culture and leisure, believe in the positive impact of local government services, thrive when innovating, and are driven by the desire lead and nurture talented teams who make a real difference in the community, I warmly encourage you to explore these opportunities further and thank you for your interest
With best wishes,
Matthew Eady
